Rare refractory metals
Including titanium, zirconium, hafnium, vanadium, niobium, tantalum, molybdenum, and tungsten. It has a higher melting point, and the compounds formed with carbon, nitrogen, silicon, boron, etc. also have a higher melting point.
Titanium: Pure titanium and titanium-based alloys are new structural materials, mainly used in the aircraft industry and navigation industry.
Zirconium: gray crystal or gray powder, used in the atomic energy industry and as a corrosion-resistant chemical material under high temperature and pressure.
Hafnium: Properties similar to zirconium.
Vanadium: silvery white, fused in steel, can increase the tensile strength, elasticity and hardness of steel, and is widely used in industry.
Niobium: Glossy, mainly used in the manufacture of high-temperature resistant alloy steel and electronic tubes.
Tantalum: Silvery white, it can be used as electrodes for electron tubes and electrolytic capacitors. Tantalum carbide has a high melting point and is extremely hard, and can be used to make cutting tools and drill bits.
Molybdenum: Silver-white color does not change easily in the air. It can be made into alloys with aluminum, copper, and iron. It is an important material in the electronics industry.
Tungsten: Gray-black crystal, hard and brittle, with a high melting point. It can be drawn into very thin wires. Tungsten wires can be used as filaments in light bulbs. A small amount of tungsten is added to steel to synthesize tungsten steel, which can be used to make machine steel armor, etc.
